International Children’s Day remains working day this year .

The day of June 1, when it is celebrated the International Children’s Day, will be a working day this year, the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection says in a press release that is quoted by IPN.

The Ministry noted that under the Labor Code, which is the main regulation governing the labor relations, June 1 is not a nonworking day. The previous years, Government decisions were adopted by which June 1 was declared a nonworking day for which the public sector employees worked on a Saturday.

The public sector employees this year have to work on 22 Saturdays instead of days declared nonworking by the Commission for Exceptional Situations owing to the epidemiological situation.

Earlier today, PPPDA MP Liviu Vovc announced that he filed an application to the Government, asking this to identify solutions so that June 1 is declared a nonworking day. He said that under the Parliament Decision of 2016, June 1 is a nonworking day. “I think it is important to amend the Labor Code, but this process necessitates more time and a plenary sitting of Parliament needs to be convoked,” stated Liviu Vovc.
